This is exactly the kind of straight shooting/no BS updates we need... That America needs. Every politician should do this. Well done.

This is great! It’s like reading the Congressional Record with the added benefit of having the thought process behind it. Thanks Alex and Eugene for your dedication to we the people.

I heartily applaud your efforts to both let us know how Eugene is voting, as well as explaining his reasoning for said votes. I would add one little caveat, however: When he is voting FOR an issue, his is a "yea" vote, even if he is enthusiastic about it enough to say "yay."

:D

I knew that. 😬 Opps!

Although YAY! is very appropriate. :)

Thank you, Col. Vindman, this is an invaluable service for us. I agree with Rahmana Karuna, could you please let us know the outcome of these bills. So far Eugene is doing a very good job.

I think this is a GREAT idea!! I subscribe to a bunch of Substack newsletters that often have the same tone and purpose. This is a unique take on specific things we need to read about and understand. Thank you for doing this!! I had not subscribed before this but hit the subscribe button so I can get this info. Keep the “twinspaining” going!!!!

This was a fascinating read. I’ve often wondered about the hows and whys behind votes - the personal details, not just a list of yea’s and nay’s. Thank you for writing this. Please thank Eugene for letting his “older, wiser brother” share his votes and reasons thereof with us. My best to you both - stay safe.

I read Episode 1 last night and wanted to sit with it for a while, even if only to reflect further, for myself. One thing remains, without need for deliberation beyond my first impression—of two rather awesome photographs. One of the little boy twins sitting together; and the other of adult brothers standing together. Seeing both, I wonder if their parents ever imagined their sons would come to contribute so meaningfully to preserving national integrity.

For my own personal reflection, I wanted to revisit the “splaining” of the “Preventing Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act.” Although not as much for Eugene’s vote, as it is about the Act itself. I don’t pretend to understand the complexities of the legislation, and neither do I possess knowledge of federal law-making.

What I find difficult to comprehend is this: it appears the Act was proposed to address matters relating to immigrants where there is admission to, or conviction “of sex offenses against women and children,” and where deportation follows. Fair enough, perhaps.

The juxtaposition is that on Monday, the individual sworn into office as president of the United States remains a convicted sexual predator. And whose abuse of power over all peoples he views unfavorably, and despot views and actions that have global consequences, appears to be in free fall.

It feels as if we are living in an alternative universe. I am still holding out hope that we can be the resistance. There are teachers all around us.

I don't know if any of you on this platform has the ability to contact Colonel Vindman or not. I have a question/concern that he might be able to address or at least investigate.

As regards to undocumented immigrants & their mass deportation I have maintained all along that while he'd like to deport them my guess that putting them in camps is fine. It gets them "off the streets". My question that I wish someone could research is this. Has anyone recently done any type of aerial surveying of Texas state land? Have they checked current satellite imagery, or used drone or small plane flyovers? I ask because Abbott told trump he would provide the land for camps. And we saw that private prison companies stock has increased exponentially. I'm thinking that these camps are already being built & that once the deportations start those poor people will be sent to one of those detention centers & will be "lost" forever in a sea of so-called paperwork etc. Forewarned is forearmed. We need to prepare for this. As a military officer I feel hopeful that Colonel Vindman could find out if this is indeed taking place or if I'm just some fool that sees bogeymen around every corner.
