Just listened to a podcast with Sam Harris and Yaroslav Trofimov, who believes that a loss for Ukraine will be understood as a failure for the US the world over. Obfuscation from the Republicans aside, I think we can all agree this is true. I don't want the US to bend a knee to Putin. Trofimov seems to be an analytical and rational kind of guy, and sincerely believes Ukraine has the advantage over Russia, with a reasonable amount of additional aid.
It is also crucial to identify and transfer write downs: material that is serviceable but no longer needed by US forces. And bundle that in at cost of transport. Without delay.
I was reading an article yesterday discussing the lack of proper oversight over weapons sent to Ukraine. What the author was saying is that the USA needs wartime procedures for keeping track of what they send, and their methods are inadequate, especially for a country that is a known illegal arms seller. It did point out that by the methods currently being used it seems like that is very little of that going on. I wrote to my Representative in the House to again beg him to help get a bill passed to fund Ukraine. I will do that again today.
