Thank you for your clear and objective account of the confusing mess in the Middle East. We are fortunate to have someone as astute as you willing to educate the public.
Honestly the saying is those “who don’t learn from history is doomed to repeat it .” It seems like the low education standards the USA has is coming to roost.
Those who don't pay attention are not able to learn. This is not about low education standards, it about when something is experienced and/or taught. Recent history would normally be taught in 11th grade. How many 17or 18 year olds are going to have the maturity to understand the complexities of the Middle East? Probably very few unless a family member is involved and provides explanations. Also, anything related to the Middle East can become entangled in lack of knowledge of the actual teachings of the various religions.
If we are truly gonna get out situation this we need to make sure everyone has access a quality education. Not just studying for statewide test but a well rounded pre k to 12 where students want to learn and go in depth about subjects.
Now the Middle East yes more complex subject . Heck as a “ spoiled American or disengaged one “ I didn’t know how critical was straights of Hormuz and Bam to gas prices was until I heard Bobby Jones and Ken Harbaugh talk about it on Meidas Defense by accident . Completely by accident because I had nothing I wanted to listen to and Bobby Jones frustration at the lack of stupidity going on from administration (honestly his dry humor and smart ass remarks remind me of my dad ) is entertaining.
