Why We Need to Support Bridget Brink’s Run for the House
As U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, Bridget stood up to the Trump Administration and she’ll fight like hell for our democratic values
Ambassador Brink’s Credentials Ceremony with Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Now more than ever, we need principled leaders who will stand up for what’s right. There’s no one that defines that more than Bridget Brink. I worked with Bridget when she served as our U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine during Russia’s full scale war, braving thousands of Russian missiles and drones to lead our on-the-ground efforts to repel Russia’s invasion. I saw how she stood up to the Trump Administration for appeasing Putin, and know she will fight like hell for our democratic values.
Bridget is as tough, capable, and principled as they come. As the first woman to serve as U.S. Ambassador in a warzone, she skillfully used American power to enable Ukraine’s fight for freedom, working from the President on down, across party lines in Congress, and with the Ukrainian government - always with our values front and center. And when U.S. policy changed under Donald Trump, I saw how she resigned in protest against the Trump Administration’s policy of appeasement and then courageously spoke out publicly to urge a change in approach that better secures our interests.
Ambassador Brink in Borodyanka, Ukraine, June 4, 2022
There’s no one with more national security experience that we could send to Congress than Bridget. She served our country for almost three decades in the U.S. Foreign Service under five Presidents, both Democrat and Republican. Bridget began her career helping end the Balkan wars and supporting the opening of free markets in Europe after the fall of the Iron Curtain. She was confirmed unanimously by the Senate to serve as Ambassador to Slovakia, and again to Ukraine.
Bridget believes what happens in Ukraine matters because if we don’t stop Putin, Russia’s brutal war will continue, threaten other democracies in the region, and embolden other autocrats around the world.
Secretary Blinken Meets with Ambassador Brink
Bridget just announced that she is running for Congress in Michigan’s 7th Congressional district and I couldn’t be prouder to stand with her. She has dedicated her life to serving our country and fighting for freedom. She’s made the tough calls, tackled the toughest problems, and held the powerful accountable.
And she’s running for Congress to take on the chaos and corruption coming out of Washington, because it’s costing working families in Michigan and across the country. Her campaign centers on kitchen table issues – the reckless tariffs that are raising prices on everyday goods and fighting back against the Republican budget that cuts health care and services for seniors, children, and veterans - while giving tax breaks to the rich. As I know first-hand, Bridget will stand up for what’s right.
This is why this race is important: Bridget’s running in one of the top five battlegrounds in Democrats' fight to take back the House in 2026. Year after year, it’s one of the closest, most expensive House races in the country. Commonsense, problem-solving Democrats have a record of winning this district, which is why it’s so critical we support Bridget now.
I’ve stood on the frontlines of freedom – and so has Bridget Brink. She’s someone we need in the fight. Her campaign raised $250,000 in the first 24 hours, and is just getting started. I’m asking you to consider supporting Bridget’s campaign today ahead of the June 30th fundraising deadline. Whether it’s $10 or $50 or more, your contribution will help send a principled leader to Congress to fight for what’s right.
I’m so happy to see you highlighting Ambassador Brink. I’ve been very impressed by her insight and wisdom the few times I’ve seen her on the Sunday news shows. We certainly need her and more like her in Congress.
