Even if foreign policy were transactional (and I don’t think it should be), it wouldn’t be worth it. The economics are obvious to the nerds, but I’ve nonetheless laid them out here: https://www.trackingproject2025.com/p/an-economic-case-against-a-shift

My apologies for the shilling. I have the utmost respect for the Vindmans. A. Vindman’s testimony is seared in my memory, from so many years ago. I’m saddened we haven’t been able to move on.

When Musk promised, in October 2024, that people would have to suffer so that he could make things better should Trump win, I wondered what that second stage would look like. Trump has several emergency powers, like the Insurrection Act, should backlash tell him the nation has turned. Musk may be inviting such a backlash and clampdown by inflicting so much damage to the government. After all, Trump reportedly wanted people shot at the Black Lives Matter demonstration in his first term. One personality trait that worries me is that he becomes enraged when he feels disrespected and unloved. Bolton claims every policy isn't policy, it's personal: love or hate, as in love Putin, hate Zelenskyy. Hegseth and Patel are two whose statements are chilling because they seem to be OK with Trump's abusive impulses, as president that's national and global in their importance. T Patel works from Las Vegas primarily, where there's less ability for the US to document his connections. As worrying to me in the same way as Trump's use of Mar a Lago. The admin has also weakened and deconstructed cyber protections and voting protections, so another perhaps additional tactic can be to compromise elections in those states internal polling shows to be critical. Of course a huge ego requires wins like Putin orchestrates.

It’s way past time to reflect back on Khruchev’s promise to “ take over America without firing a shot”!! Old school Soviets like Putin were indoctrinated to believe this ideology. Putin himself aspires to recreate the old Soviet empire and is working to do so!! Everyone blew Khruchev’s promise off as ridiculous conspiracy theories. Just because a conspiracy is incomprehensible doesn’t make it a theory. We have Russian assets in the White House, congress and Courts. It’s happening right in front of us and we are to dull to see it! 😡🥹

Our post WWIi foreign policy included support of lots of dictators and overthrowing democratic governments to support the corporate interests of various industries like sugar and fruit, or to support the extreme anti-communist agenda of the Cold War. Never before have our democratic institutions been disabled in this way and if the administration chooses to ignore court rulings it will come down to whether the army will take action against American citizens who are protesting. I’m very concerned that Trump will cancel the 2026 elections. The three special House elections in Florida and New York are extremely important. It is critical to support those Democrats running. The candidates are Gay Valimont, Josh Weil in Florida and Blake Gendebien in New York. I sent money and am writing postcards.

I wonder whether you guys will still have elections in 2026 - I sure hope so. But Putin and his cronies have been planning this coup for a long time, as have the Project 2025 engineers. Trump is without a doubt a Russian asset but don't forget the huge machinery behind him - and then there's Vance, who evidently sold his soul to the Devil at some point after being a poor hillbilly (or whatever he claims to be). I don't see these boys walking away quietly after a few years just because they're "unpopular". That certainly isn't stopping them now .......
