I have to say: this breaks my heart. President Biden is a good man and he has served the country well. He deserved to be re-elected. I understand why he did this and why many Democratic leaders urged him to withdraw. Nevertheless, I have the feeling of staring into the abyss now that he’s out of the race. God help us…

Thank you Colonel Vindman, for stating our gratitude so eloquently. And for your service, past and present, in standing up to our current "aberation". President Biden relinquished the reins, we HAVE to come together now.

I am devastated by this turn of events and horrified at what it bodes for our country and democracy. History tells us that this has not ended well in prior years when the front runner has been ousted prior to the convention. May God help us all.

HOW many times was the word "unprecedented" used when referencing trump's BS? Too numerous to count. It will be unprecedented when we unite against the madman, continue with the rule of law, and throw his ass in jail.

May god help us all come together to finish the job for our commander in chief. He has faith in us, we HAVE to save our country from the lying SOB.

I will work my butt off for whoever is the candidate, no matter what my feeling is on the subject. This is our only chance to stop Project 2025 and the descent of our country into authoritarianism.

The Democratic Party are a group of self-defeating GODDAMN FOOLS! I’m still going to vote BLUE and they better back VP Harris. She’s going to blow Trump out of the water at the next debate in September.

nkrempa's avatar

Given our choices, we'd better hope that we can convince an electoral majority to back Harris, or we can kiss our butts goodbye. Srsly. I don't believe I've ever been this worried about the future of our country in my 70 years of life.

Women for to stop hating other women. It's simple as that. Can't make the same mistake as 2016. Our country is ready. Young folks need someone new. She raised quite a few million today. All that talk about biden crime family and hunter biden. The mango mussolini has to start all over again. He is melting down.

As I said, we can only hope... and work our butts off to make sure that whoever the nominee is wins. And *I* didn't make a mistake in 2016, I voted for the most qualified candidate our country ever had. We missed a HUGE opportunity to advance the fortunes of millions of people had she won, but instead we got four years of utter chaos and divisiveness. Another four years, given the conservatives' 2025 Project, and this country will be the world's largest autocracy.

Agreed. On both points.

This is different. Really different. I felt the same but 68 is way different than 2024

Bless you, President Biden. And thank you, Coronel Vindeman for finding the right words to express our commitment and intent. I thought that Joe Biden would always put country first and am again grateful to him for that and so much more.

I am devastated by this news. President Biden has been harassed by members of his own party, driven by Big Money Donors. And I can't help but feel there is much behind the scenes that we'll never know about, some of it very dark. Maybe I'll settle down in awhile, and let my calmer mind kick in. I was just about to go run errands in my Biden/Harris tee shirt... Yes, I agree with comments here - God help us.

Joe Biden is a true American hero. His service to the country has always not been about himself ( like others that I do not like to even say the name) but about the ordinary people. He really, really cares. I will vote blue no matter what . D for democracy !!!

As I have been saying elsewhere, the time for recriminations is later. At the present moment in time we must all unite behind whomever the Democrat candidate becomes. Vote BLUE all the way!

Thank you for this post, honoring a great man who pulled this nation back from the brink of catastrophe.

Let us hope we can pull this off. The big bucks Dems want to control and the rest of us to follow. They don't care if Trump wins. They loved the enriching for them trickledown that always went up.

Bucks make bucks.

This feels like a punch in the gut. I am very sad. I hope there is a good plan that unifies the party and that the reins are in good hands.

I've read many of the comments, and instead of asking for help from god, get people registered and to the polls this November. That is what will save this country.

Taking a moment to express our gratitude for a man who saved us from Trump, the Pandemic, and thinking about & helping WE The People; is 100% appropriate. Tomorrow we can begin the fight against fascism, project 2025, and Trump anew.

But today- the best president in America deserves a day of kindness & respect.

Thank you, Mr. Vindman, for your well-expressed sentiments. I share them.

What's done is done. V P. Harris had better be the nominee. Mega donors and celebrities don't speak for me!!😡😡😡😡
