Urging Congressional Action on Aid to Ukraine and Allies

I am writing to you all today with a call to action. Many of you have written to me asking what you can personally do to make a difference for Ukraine. This is your chance to do just that. Congress is now considering a separate bill that just provides the critical aid our allies. This vote could happen as soon as today, so the time to act is now.

My brother Eugene is running for Congress in VA-7 to end this level of dysfunction. Today, however, he is putting aside his campaign work to urge the passage of this essential bill along with the rest of us. His campaign team developed a website that makes it easy to call your Representative and explain why it’s so important that they put aside any partisan interests for the sake of our national security.

If you click the link to the website, you will be presented with a screen asking for your name, email, and ZIP code. Once you input this information, the system will automatically present you with the name and phone number of your local Congressperson, as well as a script telling you what to say on the call.

If you are not yet convinced, let me take a second to explain why passing this aid package is such a no-brainer. Not only does this funding allow Ukraine to sustain its democracy and fend off an existential threat, it also greatly benefits U.S. national security. The money that Congress is budgeting for Ukraine would go straight back to making our own military stronger. As we provide older systems to the Ukrainians, we are filling our stockpiles with new and improved equipment. Furthermore, for just tiny portion of our defense budget, the Ukrainians are weakening the military of our adversary Russia, which actively seeks to destabilize our allies and our won democracy. Sending aid to Ukraine will also save lives. If we cannot showcase our strength now, what is to stop other authoritarian regimes from starting similar wars? This is why I urge you to take just a few minutes out of your day to call your Congressperson. Thanks.
