We need a way to include those of us who want to participate but are no longer capable of a long walk or standing for a long period of time or are far from a protest. Something like honk once on the hour on the protest day between 11 and 2 wherever you are on that day or support signs to put on s car window showing support. When the President is a videot, that can be a big boost to the number of protesters. The costumed protesters are very effective!
As a septugeniarn with an ailing husband, I hear you. My husband and I attended protests in August in Boise, Idaho. The demographic was largely people our age, and I suspect Substack readers are also in that category. As retirees, we have more time available and also the shadows of World War II still hang over us as we think about our fathers who fought to keep our continent safe from domination by outside forces. The younger people are busy with their lives, and I am convinced do not appreciate the threat they face and perhaps do not see our system as salvageable.
I am with you RuthAnne in name and age and experience at earlier demonstrations but I am not convinced that younger people don’t appreciate the threat, at least the ones I interact with who may not be representative of their generation but do indeed get it that we are in danger.
A friend told me that the ACLU warned protesters to leave cell phones at home and don't take any photos. Free speech isn't free anymore. But please don't let that stop you from showing up! Strength in numbers. Don't forget to wear yellow, the unifying color.
I’ll be there wearing yellow as requested and holding up a sign saying RESIST (as the Dear Leader might write if he were on the right side of history).
I called all my national and state nabobs, all Republicans, and explained we do not hate, we aren't Hamas, and this was in response to loving our country, our constitution, our rights, and others. Then I invited them to join our LOVE THE US AND CONSTITUTION MARCH.
I will be at the Naples, FL No Kings Day, carrying a sign reading "Alex Vindman, PLEASE RUN". I was disheartened to see little Dem Party interest in the US Senate seat vacated by Rubio. Moody seems vulnerable: little name recognition or experience, unelected, full MAGA. Our top candidate, Jennifer Jenkins, has only school board experience. Can we not do better? I then ready that Mr Vindman is considering a run. I was familiar with his testimony in the first impeachment. I then reviewed his experience and achievements- excellent candidate! Courage, integrity, experience, accolades- you have it all, sir! Please give us something to believe in and fight for with this critical seat! Count on me to donate and work for you to represent us here in Collier County.
I have 2 questions. One short term, how do we get the generals and admirals not to follow through on illegal orders. I know that several individuals below the level of general or admiral have resigned rather than participate in the degradation of the US military. Any ideas on how to do this.
The other question is are there people looking at what to do once trump is defeated. If nothing else, we will have a slew of Congressionally created and funded organizations that simply don’t not exist. In January 2029, does the government just reconstitute a USAID, for example, because it is legally mandated or have there been people who have created a project 2029, who have thought about how to get out of this quagmire. It’s not going to be the flip of a switch. If there have not been a group of people thinking about what to do on the day after, the situation may well deteriorate further before it gets better. Who can be brought together to fund such an effort? Where could it be housed? Who could staff such an initiative?
Come as a frog, or a giraff or just yourself. But come to NO KINGS 2:-)
Well said, that’s it in a nutshell. The desire for Justice is universal.
Prov. 29:4 — by justice a king (ruler) brings stability to a land,
But a man 🔹seeking bribes 🔹brings it to ruin.
May God bless you all and keep you all safe.

Wonderful idea. Share it with Indivisible and see if something can be added for the next No Kings Day.
