I am so glad you brought up the specter of ICE agents intimidating at polling stations. I was thinking the same thing, along with the addition of Assault-Rifle toting military personnel in support. What could go wrong? Such challenges we face, but I am encouraged by the leadership shown by many of the Governors so far.
Thank you for your stand from the point of view of the military veterans. I don’t know how any self respecting veteran can support this administration with the way they are treating our soldiers and veterans.
I think of the highly trained troops picking up trash in all of the DC most visited tourist attractions where I have roamed many a night without fear or incident. These are teachers, nurses, white collar, blue collar, truly a mix of our workforce, taken away from their jobs and families, for what? They must be disgusted by this.
Julia.....if trump really wanted to fight crime he should send them to SE DC and Anacostia where the crime is. Also if and when he sends them to Chicago they should go to the Southside and Westside!
“If we are serious about discussing crime …” true, but there are valid reasons why this admin & its ‘leaders’ are referred to as being ‘unserious’, Cl. Vindman is an articulate voice in this chaos.
As national & international leaders search for effective responses to rising authoritarianism I am reminded of the official U.S. motto “In God we trust” — indeed, God may be our most dependable hope - we shall see.
Isn’t it interesting that we have this National Guard deployment after the DOGE staffer “Big Balls” was assaulted in a ritzy section of DC. Isn’t it DOGE that uploaded our Social Security information to an unsecured server? Now, there seems it is still an issue with fixing that problem. But, the National Guard is in DC. How much is this costing the American taxpayers? Also - Malcolm Nance has reported that the National Guard are there on 29 day deployments. Being only 29 days negatively affects their payment for this. But, Alex, you would know more about that.

After the school/church shooting in Minneapolis my gut tells me troops will be deployed here soon. trump will not be able to resist.
Bravo Col. Vindman, I fully agree with your sentiments.

I think there should be a DC Citizen's campaign to had put frer subway sandwiches to all the national guard personnel.

I agree with you re DT’s competence. But he has unelected individuals running the administration.
