Harris-Walz 2024!
The Right Choice for America
Dear readers,
It’s been a busy summer. Describing the political developments of the past few weeks as “dramatic” would be an understatement and like many of you, I found myself wondering what would come after President Biden endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee. The wait is over: Vice President Harris has selected Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate and I, for one, wholeheartedly support this decision.
Governor Walz has shown himself to be willing to fight for a progressive agenda and deliver meaningful policy to the state of Minnesota. As governor, Tim Walz supported common sense gun laws, removed legal restrictions that would limit access to abortion and infringe upon a woman’s right to choose, and signed a bill into law that would guarantee universal free lunches for children throughout the state. These policies reflect a genuine interest in the common good and advancing the lives of the average person and are a sharp contrast to the naked greed and selfishness that is embodied by the Trump/Vance ticket. Additionally, Governor Walz has been hawkish on Russia and has forged ties between the state of Minnesota and Chernihiv Oblast in response to the ongoing invasion.
Looking beyond policy and politics, Governor Waltz has shown himself to be an individual of outstanding character. Walz served in the Army National Guard for 24 years earning the highest enlisted rank, Command Sergeant Major. Anyone, officer or enlisted, who has served in uniform has the highest respect for sergeant majors and those who achieve that level of success. Governor Walz taught English in China after graduating from college and is fondly remembered by his students. Finally, Tim Walz has shown himself to have an excellent taste in music and, like a true Dad, has taught his kids that music just sounds better on vinyl.
Needless to say, I’m incredibly pleased by Vice President Harris’ choice of running mate. As mentioned during my earlier reflection on President Biden’s decision to step aside, we should remember that Biden’s choice wasn’t an easy one to make. However, given the policy vision laid out by the Democratic party’s presidential ticket and the energy and enthusiasm of the Harris campaign, I think it’s safe to say that President Biden made the right choice. With less than 90 days to election day, it’s crucial that we now all come together and defeat Trump and Project 2025.

Keep up the great work Alex. I get your emails about supporting Eugene and Blue Amp, but they have been on my ActBlue monthlys for a while.
The world is looking much more hopeful right now.
As a non-Veteran, I’m dismayed how readily non-veterans set upon, divide and trash Veterans for trivialities those “invincible at peace and invisible in war.” The habit of “I-know-better-ism” and a swift Hand at the Keyboard pumps up the egos of those with heel spurs in the mind.
I have not been shot at, and intend to keep it that way.
The prerogatives of people who have been shot at without lethal effect is that they may offer legitimate opinions of others who have done combat service. I have no such claim. I think that we who have not been there, have no such authority to throw rocks.
