Today VoteVets will air an ad featuring Gold Star families calling out Donald Trump for his disrespect towards to the military and the ultimate sacrifice many Americans have paid.
I've never met one of these guys - going back to the YAF "pro-America" protestors who showed up when I or other anti-war Vietnam vets spoke anywhee - who wasn't a service avoider. My way of shutting them down was to ask them when they were going to quit school like their fathers had done, and enlist in the Army and volunteer to go to Vietnam like the patriots they were. They shut up, every time.
Dick Cheney: "I had other priorities." That's what they all say.
My father-in-law, wounded 2x in WWII, would be frothing over Trump and his disrespect for Gold Star families and veterans. My mother-in-law's family lost a son in WWII. My Dutch grandfather went BACK to Europe to fight the Germans in WWI. My maternal grandfather served in WWII, my step-grandfather served in WWII, my father and uncle served during Korea. My husband's family has a similar long history of service... none of them would ever salute the orange menace as the "Commander In Chief." We cannot let him get near the White House, ever again.
Someone needs to be fact checking the statements that these proTrumpers put out. The press needs to be doing that. Are they? It does not seem so. Thank you for sharing the ad. It is powerful.
Given the current GOP's weakness and rhetoric on Ukraine, I don't think the pro-war label fits. That is unless by pro-war, you mean pro-Putin's invasion of Ukraine. Today's GOP is definitely that.
It still baffles me how a party that once prided itself on being tough on Russia and standing up to the bad guys has become the lickspittles of a draft-dodging coward. Something tells me history is already laughing at them.
Just became aware that the Goldstar families protested Trump's (2015?) denigration of John McCain's having been a prisoner of war. I'm beginning to understand this group, and so glad they're speaking up. Seriously hoping they have have the bonefides to make a difference, at least with "undecideds"!
That's a pretty powerful ad. But the 2nd half of the Brian Mast response seemed also good too. I hope it doesn't strengthen MAGA by feeding their victim card. I've become so cynical.
I remember trump personally, and publicly targeting and harassing the Gold Star parents whose son had died. They may have been immigrants themselves. The parents were dignified people and appeared to be middle class. I was appalled as was my partner and those he knew - even though they basically all supported Trump. Attacking Veterans, alive, wounded or especially dead and their families was too much. Many of the people who trump may attract also support our armed forces. I don’t understand how they do both - but these targets of Trump’s MAGA marketing don’t understand (can’t fathom) his contempt for our individual service members. Trump doesn’t understand why Americans are willing to fight for their country. Therein may be Trump’s Achilles Heel. All Trump understands is greed and loyalty for the sake of greed not loyalty for the sake of honor.
Wait, I think I recall Trump's cognitive test," man, woman, camel, camera...my wife Marla ( actual photo of him & E Jean Carroll). Oh, yeah this guy's total fit for...a canvas jacket with wrap-around arms.
And, Don't get me started on how many times he said, "losers". In reference to anyone alive or dead in service. Go ask DJTjr what the response was to him joining the army. Disinheritance, I believe.

Do you remember how Trump abandoned the Kurds? They were our partners in battle and Trump abandoned them without a thought
