Friends, I am taking the fight to MAGA and running for the United States Senate in Florida.
When I joined the U.S. Army more than two decades ago I swore an oath to protect our country, its people, and our democracy from enemies foreign and domestic.
In 2019 I found myself at the heart of a constitutional crisis. I listened as the president of the United States tried to extort Ukraine into investigating a political rival for his own personal benefit.
I honored my oath by blowing the whistle on the Trump-Ukraine phone call, an act that led to the president’s first impeachment and ultimately ended my military career.
People told me to keep my head down, but as the son of a family that arrived in America to escape tyranny, I sure as hell wasn’t going to bow down to a wannabe tyrant.
I testified before Congress to stand up for our democracy and the Constitution that I swore to protect. This led to the president unleashing a reign of terror and retribution not just against my family and I, but against all of us.
Today, our country is in chaos. We are entering a dark chapter of American history, one that echoes early stages of authoritarian power consolidation seen elsewhere.
Thug militias are attacking citizens. Needless tariffs are pushing prices sky-high. Healthcare premiums are through the roof.
Meanwhile, my opponent is hand-picked by MAGA and their billionaire allies to be a rubber stamp for their radical agenda. Ashley Moody screwed Florida homeowners by caving to the big insurance companies, supported this administration that gutted disaster help for communities trying to rebuild, and had over a million dollars in her corporate stock traded last year while she had access to insider information only Congress gets.
She’s not Florida’s senator. She’s theirs.
Trump may have ended my military service, but he will never shake my commitment to this country.
That is why I have chosen to run for the United States Senate in Florida. We need a Senator who isn’t afraid to defend our democracy, put a check on an outlaw president, and ensure that every American has a fair chance at prosperity.
