Thank you for supporting and sharing The Orders Project. Our troops need to be able to recognize an Unlawful Order.

I'm with you Spencer and Sally, in the company of several others. No wonder.

I've continued to hold yesterday's conversation close and have revisited it, and the National Institute of Military Justice and The Orders Project website a few times since. Last night, it felt good to make a modest contribution to its work … perhaps a self-soothing way to “do something.”

Still, I believe there can be benefit, however humble, when our intentions and actions help us to feel we have “power” to respond. Despite the direct and possible illegal actions of this administration to suppress our first Amendment rights, and the military’s oath of office, we can still mobilize and demonstrate we are not powerless, and we will not be silenced. And, we can support those who have the collective knowledge and expertise to respond, “to the difficulty of this moment.”

What a wonderful conversation between two inspiring servants who swore an oath to the constitution, in service of the American people, and the American experiment. It's still so disturbing that the administration fired JAGs whose expertise is needed more now, perhaps than ever. And who, among others, present company high on the list, have served our country well.
