A Damning Non-Answer from Vance
Vance Side-Steps the Worst of the MAGA Agenda
When asked if Donald Trump lost the 2020 election during last night’s debate, JD Vance responded “Tim, I’m focused on the future”.
Vance’s response to the topic of the 2020 election should be seen as a major red flag. With Vance as Vice President, a cabinet full of yes-men, and a gutted federal civil service reshaped by Project 2025, there would be nothing preventing Donald Trump from enacting the full vision of the MAGA agenda. Despite our political differences, I must recognize that Vice President Pence made the courageous decision to stand strong against Trump’s effort to steal the election and prevent an unconstitutional seizure of power. With Vance in office, there will be no guardrails or firewalls to prevent another illegal attempt to seize power.
Vance has enough self-awareness to realize that vocally supporting the most odious parts of the MAGA agenda will cost the GOP votes. This strategy was especially visible when the policy of mass deportations under a second Trump administration was raised. Rather than affirming his support for a plan he has consistently advocated for, Vance couched his response in the nebulous, incremental language of Silicon Valley and described using a tiered approach to the deportation of millions. Additionally, Vance presented a softer stance towards reproductive rights and abortion access compared to his previous public statements, even blatantly lying about his support for a nationwide ban. Despite what he said on stage, Vance is fully on board with Project 2025’s vision of criminalization of abortion and using an ever-expanding surveillance apparatus to police women’s bodies. Although his tone appeared to portray moderation, his policies are dangerously radical.
The GOP has clearly learned from the aftermath of Donald Trump’s disaster in last month’s presidential debate and coached Vance into providing a polite, gentle face to the MAGA agenda and the policy vision of Project 2025. This includes framing the GOP’s pro-corporate policies as a populist economic plan and redirecting the blame for inflation and our current economic crisis towards immigrants. Make no mistake, reader: no matter how folksy Vance may have come across on stage last night, he is more than willing to enable the worst elements of a second Trump administration and will sign off on decisions that will bring untold suffering to millions of Americans.
While the congeniality and policy focus of last night’s debate may have been a relief for Americans who are tired of Trump’s antics, we should remember that a return to normalcy will not come through a MAGA agenda with a polite face. The only way to ensure that this country gets back to meaningful discussions on the issues that matter is by voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz for the presidency.
Please join me in keeping Trump and Vance out of office this November. If we stand together, we will ensure a brighter day for our country.

Yes, his job seems to be whitewashing his boss. I wonder how MAGA will like that?
Not sure which were my favorite comments “trump saved the ACA or the peaceful transfer of power. Many others but those two stick out as “chockable moments along with the closing I am looking forward when asked if the orange one lost the 2020 election.
